Before there were Google searches and YouTube tutorials, there was Dad. He knew how to fix a broken tap, reverse a trailer into a tight corner, or solve your career crisis with one simple sentence: “Be focused.” On this special day, we celebrate the fathers who showed up, consistently and completely, and the legacy they continue to leave behind…
…Go Ask Dad: A Tribute to the Original Superheroes
The light bulb flickered again.
Not because NEPA had done their usual disappearing act, but because the wiring was old and tired, much like the small, two-room flat in Surulere where Ten-year-old Tobi lived with his parents and younger sister.
Mummy said it would cost money to fix. Money they didn’t have.
But Daddy didn’t complain. He never did. He simply got out his old metal toolbox, the one with the rusted edges and the bent screwdriver, and he got to work.
Tobi watched him, eyes wide with curiosity, trying to commit every movement to memory, the way his father tilted his head, the way he tightened the wire, the way he whispered under his breath as if consulting some invisible manual only dads could see.
In that small, flickering moment, Tobi saw more than just a man fixing a bulb. He saw resilience. He saw quiet confidence. He saw leadership.
Because before there was Wi-Fi, Dad was the search engine. Before DIY videos, Dad was the fixer. Before motivational podcasts, Dad’s words anchored you.
“Go ask Dad,” Mummy would say when Tobi asked how to build a kite or why the moon followed their car home at night. And somehow, he always had the answer. Not always the one you wanted, but the one you needed.
At Heirs Technologies, we understand that true leadership isn’t loud. It’s consistent. It’s in the dad who wakes up before dawn to beat Lagos traffic. It’s in the dad who listens more than he speaks, who teaches by doing, who builds not just homes, but values.
Whether they’re cheering us on from the sidelines, guiding us from the front, or quietly holding it all together in the background, fathers are the original superheroes, no capes needed.
They build more than structures. They build character. Legacy. Future.
So today, and every day, we say thank you. To the tech-savvy dads, the strict ones, the funny ones, the ones who raised us with their hands and their hearts, we see you.
Go ahead. Go ask Dad. You’ll be surprised how much he knows.
Share it with a dad who deserves the flowers.
Happy Father’s Day! ❤
